    The sandbox is only moderately reliable, and setting up credentials correctly can be confusing at times.

    Make it easier on yourself: How about *not* testing in Sandbox, and using real cards, and simply voiding/refunding the transactions?
    And if you're having problems, turn on debug log-to-file, and post the logs for analysis.

    i started out working in live and just doing capture, not final sale, but i still get an error, it brings me to step 2 again of the check out process, but the transactions shows in paypal???
    this is what i got in e-mail
    PayPal Direct Payment Error ( <!-- -->)

    no numbers?
    if i use final sale, will i be able to void the transaction from paypal, or i will be charged from paypal each time?

    If you void an Authorization you will be charged 30 cents by PayPal. What I have been doing is to charge one penny on the authorization and then refund that penny. I send an email to the customer explaining why the charge and refund of one penny. This gets around the 30 cent charge.
