+16 = -8

You can't have >12 (+14 or +16) - there are only 24 hours in a day... 12 either side of GMT !

12 hours either side adds up to 24 you are right

But here in the colonies strange things happen

Here in Oz we are GMT+10
Our datacenter in the states is GMT-6
So to offset our time from the datacentre is +16
