Display featured product page on index page

Hi

I have been trying to figure out how to go about changing my index page to display the product information for the featured item on my index.php page. My website only has one featured item at any given time but changes daily. I want visitors to see the product info for that item on the first page they see when they visit. Currently I have a link to the featured item on the index page but I am trying to incorporate whats on that linked page onto the front page (basically the frontpage look like that linked page). A large percentage of visitors never go past the front page when they visit as they seem confused on how to see the product details. The website is www.paws4deals.com to get a better idea of what the page currently looks like. I can do basic php and have modified my zen cart code already to get it like it is.
