Applying discount on out of stock items...can it be done?

Hi,

I am wanting to apply a 5% discount to all out of stock items. I am not sure how this can be done, i was thinking the best way would be with the SaleMaker.

Anyone have any ideas, my PHP level is rather low.

If it is out of stock wht are you or your shoppers concerned with a discount?

No facility currently exists to do this automatically, although one could be developed.

If you wanted to use specials, you could do it , but you'd have to manually enter the product as a special when it was out of stock and then delete it as a special when it was back in stock.

The reason that i would want to give discount to out of stock items, is to give a pre order reduction. We find that our products are so in demand that people will happily wait for them. So we just wanted to give a small incentive.

Is there anyone that could code this? If so please PM a quote :)
