Default Need to put multiple products into one category

Hi there, I need help because there's something that I am missing.

I want to put multiple products from various different categories into one new category. Either by linking or coping them but not one at a time.

When I do a search from the admin. Panel for radio controled trucks, I find 197 of them, I want to put them into a new category called Radio Controled Trucks.

I can link them one by one in the product, but I was wondering if there is a way to do it in Mass operation?

See the products are classed by manufacturer and not by usage, so I need to get all the products that are radio Controled trucks from all the different manufacturers into a top category called radio controled trucks and so on with my other products. So I need to link/copy all these products in mass from where they are to a new top category.

    Thank you.

There is nothing in the admin to do this...

You will need to educate yourself on mysql and determine what there is that is common to all of these but unique from all others.

Finding that you can create a sql that selects where ??? whatever is the common record.

Barring that there is something common to select on this will be a manual operation.

You might look at easy populate that can export this to a csv file and you might expedite the manual function through using the excel functions

Kobra is absolutely right. All I can add is that the Easypopulate route is much easier for those of us not too familiar with My SQL.

There is no "simple/quick" solution to your task - but I have had lots of success using Excel/Easypopulate to speed up processes where hundreds (and in some cases thousands) of products are concerned.
