Default Store closed for vacation. Where to put message?

I am going to be going away for a week and while I don't get many hits or sales yet, I would still like to put some notice if someone happens to buy something while I am gone just letting them. I know how to put a message in the shopping_cart.php, and am thinking that would be a good spot since they will see that before they check out. I have a current message in there and it is in a small font. How can I make the notice in a large font so someone can actually see it? And any other ides of how to notify them would be great. Thanks.

Well I cant really link to it. I am thinking of when you add stuff to your cart, and then when you are to that page right before you check out. maybe but a message there. The message that goes in your shopping_cart.php file. Unless you can think of a better place to put it. I can type in a message there, but it is in a small font. I would like it bigger. I might make it mention it in the confirmation email too, but I would like them to know before they purchase it.

Research shows that you will intensely annoy your customers if you take them all the way through filling a cart, and half-way through checkout - only to find they can't contine. If you can't fulfil orders during your holiday, then let customers know up-front.

    Couple of options...

    1. Set your store to SHOWCASE in Admin>>>Configuration>>>My Store .

    2. Fiddle with the "down for maintenance" text display, and then set it down for maintenance.

Option 1 (above) is by far the better...

(I agree with Kobra... you should try to keep your store open if you can.)

Changing messages (text) in the files is relatively simple - if you know where to find the text you want to change (or add to).

Use the developer's tool kit under ADMIN>>>TOOLS to find text strings (and other data) in the nearly 1000 php files that are in a standard zencart.

Most commonly, "messages" are found in the language files, and are preceded with the word "define" in the php code.

If you want to change size, shape, colour, position, then the CSS files (stylesheets) are where you do this. You need to find the style CLASS or ID that describes an element, then apply changes to that style in the stylesheet(s).

Thanks for the tips. I know what php file it is in, so I guess I will just do some research and try to figure out how to change the text size for that file. That showcase might be a good idea too. I would agree it is best to keep it open, but if someone were to order something while I am gone I can't really ship it. And being that I have only had one order from this site so far, I don't think it is going to be a problem! Maybe that showcase will work well. Thanks again.
