    Default Paypal processing

    I have a client running 1.3.6 (yes an update is required) but before that is made, we have a Paypal question.

    The client allows for ANY currency type.
    For non GBP (default) they are informed by Paypal to authorise the payment, which they do via their paypal account.

    However, the status of the payment is not changing as they expect from PENDING > PROCESSING after such authorisation.

    Here are the results after a AUD payment has been approved in Paypal:

    ================

    02/27/2008 04:11:23 True Processing
    02/27/2008 04:11:23 False Pending
    PayPal status: Pending multi_currency @ 20:11:16 Feb 26, 2008 PST
    Trans ID:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    Amount: 24.38 AUD

    02/27/2008 11:23:09 False Pending
    PayPal status: Completed @ 20:11:16 Feb 26, 2008 PST
    Trans ID:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    Amount: 24.38 AUD

    =================

    Should the Pending change to Processing?

    Or is this something that would not occur if the client was running the latest version of ZC & Paypal module?

    Yes, it should automatically update to Processing.
    There were a few improvements made to the code that handles that in subsequent versions ... so, yes, upgrading to newer code should alleviate that issue.
    Multi-currency is always a challenge!

    Thanks - so next question...is it feasible to take all the Paypal elements from 1.3.8a and apply them to 1.3.6, or are has there been changes to ZC itself that interact with the Paypal side of things (if this makes sense)?

    Obviously, I'll be doing my best to persuade the client to upgrade correctly, but it is a very active site so they really need the Paypal issue resolving whilst they consider the upgrade.

    There are numerous core changes in 1.3.7 and 1.3.8 that make it a very big job to back-port it for use on 1.3.6. It's not worth it. You'd be better off spending the time on upgrading instead.
