Installing to new sub-domain

I have tried the article 100 "I want to move my Zen Cart installation to another host or a different server" twice it has not worked for me, I think my current database is too large. MySQL has a limit of (Max: 5,120KB), but it dose not explain why I get a database of zero when I am done. how can I transfer data from one database to another. Were do categories come from I don't think they are stored in the database. My server uses MySQL 5.0.32-Debian_7.

Yes If you are limited to 5.120 kb you can either split the DB, or ask your host to restore it for you. You do have this in tar.gz format, correct?

Were do categories come from I don't think they are stored in the database.

They are stored in the DB but begin when you enter the details in your admin.

ok so how do I set up the categories. all I am trying to do is make a copy from a version 1.3.7 to a new sub domain and upgrade to 1.3.8a I have tried pointing to the old database, but it is as if I have no items listed. I just want to move from http://nilandsplace.com/Shop/ to http://shop.nilandsplace.com. I really need some help. I have carefully been through the on-line help, and I got the book, but I am failing at every turn.
