Weird behavior with State field

Hi,

A client's site has the state field minimum value set to "" since many customers are from outside the US (we do realize other countries have states but many do not).

The weird thing is that if my client tries to edit customer information for a customer with no state (let's say in the UK), no changes can be updated unless there is a value in the state field.

The state shows as required only when confirming the update, not on the edit page itself. When we click "update" on the confirmation page, the changes are not saved and the confirmation page is still active.

Any ideas?

Are you referring to the admin side or the storefront?

No, I am talking about the admin. When I try to edit the customer details in admin, it requires the state in order to confirm the change.

What version of Zen Cart?
What addons have you installed?
What country are your affected customers in?

I have version 1.3.8a.

I have a number of add-ons installed including Super Orders and Tax Exempt which are the only modules I can think of which would effect customer editing/data.

I have noted this issue with several customers - some in UK and some in Belgium. I will play around and see if it related to the particular country or just not having anything in the state regardless of the country.
