Is there an add-on to cache categories and products?

The SQL cache appears to only cache configuration data, but not category and product data. Is there a mod available for caching this additional data?

The store implementation I'm working on is on a Linux server, but it's shared hosting. I would like to reduce hits to the database server, even if it is tuned to cache queries. After all, Zen Cart is caching configuration queries, so why can't it also cache category/product-related queries?
