    help question Importing 10,000+ products

    Hi,

I'm about to start using Zen Cart for the first time. I have over 10,000 products. If I upload all my images through FTP, can I then import all my products with a simple CSV so that I have:

Product Name, Product ID, Descrption, Link to image

If so, where within the admin section is the feature to upload a CSV?

    Many thanks in advance,
    Stephen

With this number of products, you would do well to purchase the Advanced EasyPopulate module. (Search the forum for Easypopulate Advanced).

This module is indispensable for stores with large numbers of products and well worth the few $ its developer charges.

(There is also a free version - with fewer features).

    http://www.zen-cart.com/archived_con...s/admin-tools/
    ep_v1.2.5.4.zip
Download Easy Populate from above url..this is FREE Version.
Suggest you read carefully instructions contained in zip file
and don't import more than 500 items at a time..
There is also a paid version...costs around $US70

Is there a way this can be done without using an addon?...My first question would be, how do I find out what headings to use for the csv file...ie: product title, model number, price etc etc...what are the proper field names?

    Thanks

    No.
The data isn't in "one" table. It's spread across multiple tables, so in order to link things up you'll need a program that can set new product record IDs and cross-link the data in all the related tables correctly.
Hence the recommendation to use available addons.
