On our site we manually approve customers (due to multi category wholesaling) and each time we approve one the customer does not know if they have been approved or not (based upon the information they submit, mainly a valid tax id number) and we have to email them (if we remember to do so and multiple people are doing the approving due to illness (mainly my wife continuing to have surgeries)) and sometimes we may lose customers because they do not know if they are approved or not. We also added to the account creation success email stating that accounts could take 24-28 hours to be approved (mainly for weekend submittions)

My question is this. How hard would it be one way or another to either adapt the part of the code from the orders editing screen where you change the order status from pending to processing, etc. with the comments section to add to the customers screen(where you do the editing), or write something similar from scratch. I realize that there is an email button on the first screen to mail the customer, but the comments section would work out sooooooooo much better since we are already on that screen editing the approval status, etc.

Or how hard would it be to add the email button to the same screen and when clicked, populate the send to address.

Or can anyone at least point me in the right direction on when page (and an estimate) where that comments code begins so I can look at how it works.
