How to remove unwanted account creation fields?

I am re-posting this because I did not get much response and I am afraid that it might have been ignored because it got too old.

I would really like to make these simple tweaks to make the account creation less intimidating.

Please tell me how to perform the 3 tasks below:

The only fields I need to keep in the "Address Details" box are:

- First Name
- Last Name
- Country, So ...

Task 1: Remove all other fields in this box.

I don't need the "Additional Contact Details" box (telephone, etc.). So ...

Task 2: Remove this box altogether

I will, of course keep the "Login Details" box (E-mail, Password, Confirm Password). But I don't need the Newsletter Subscription box. So ...

Task 3: Remove the Newsletter box.


By the way, I have removed everything I could from the Admin -> Configuration -> Customer Details (and Minimum Values).

Looks like you'd need to remove (or comment out) the appropriate lines in includes/templates/template_default/tpl_modules_create_account.php, then place the changed file in includes/templates/your_template
