cant create new accounts

Everytime someone tries to create a new account on my site, they are unable to. It says that all the required boxes must be filled in then just gives an * instead of stating what box needs to be filled in. Ive tried to create test accounts, and get the same error. every single box, including the non required boxes are filled in, so i dont know what more needs to be filled out.
