Default How to code dependent dropdown boxes?

I've done a thorough search on this subject to come to the conclusion that zencart does not support this attribute feature and that the only way to accomplish this is to add custom code.

So.. my question is if someone can help me code it. I am trying to do it as simple as possible. Just two options in the first dropdown box, each choice changing the text contents of the second dropdown box. An example of this in action is in cars.com.

Also, which file would add this code for? I would like these dropdown boxes appear in my individual products page.

Any luck? I think this is exactly what I'm looking for, a sequenced series of drop-downs, with 1 determining the options of 2, 2 determining the options of 3, and so on.
Is it something that for sure ZenCart can't do,, yet?
If not, at least for my case, I am trying to think of a work-around (not coding, I am too ignorant for that), but possibly I might be able to figure out a way of total cost. For example level 1, each option has a cost (all different). Level 2, each option has an additional cost (all different), level 3 each option has the last cost, and then the SUM gets sent to the cart on-click "Add to Cart". Sound nuts? Probably is. Anyway, just spinning the old wheels, and see what happens.
    All the best,
    Kevin

Short answer - it would appear Zen Cart can't do this right now, unfortunately. Look at the reply I made in another post for my full commentary on the subject.

    Hi Twinge,
Thanks for replying, and confirming what I was pretty sure I found too. Pity, it's not a feature. Seems like it ought to be, but oh well, life is full of compromises.
I decided to live without it, for now anyway. Don't have the knowledge to do it myself, and too short on do re me to hire someone, so, I'll live with what it does & how.
Right now my thoughts are more on the shipping module & zones/weights, blah blah blah,,, not easy stuff,,,this e-commerce,, but I must say, ZenCart, seems to me anyway, excellent software.

    Cheers & all the best,
    Kevin
