Remove right side stuff?

I think my pages look too cluttered, plus "Featured" and "New Products" and "Specials" appear in the left boxes AND the middle AND the right boxes.

1. I'd like to eliminate everything on the right side, so there just remains the left-side boxes and the large middle area for product listings. How do I do that?

2. I don't understand the options under Admin/Tools/Layout Boxes Controller, and for that matter I can't relate the "box file name" to what appears on the page. If there is a FAQ on that, please tell me what to look for -- the search function only helps if you know what you are searching for. If there isn't a FAQ, may I suggest one? I have no clue what any given on/off or sort order does. Help!

Not sure what you mean by number 2 - the file names seem to be pretty clear to me. Sort order refers to the order the sideboxes appear in the left or right columns. By changing the number under sort order, you can, for example, place the Categories box under the Specials box, or vice versa. The lower the number, the higher the box appears. This is consistent throughout Zencart, including in Categories or Products.

The fact that stuff like New Products, Specials,etc., appear in several different places can be changed in other places in Admin, mostly under Configuration.

Actually, I accidentally found how to get rid of the right-hand boxes! While looking for something else (which I swear is how I've found most of the marvellous features of ZenCart). It's under Admin/Configuration/Layout Settings, the Column Right Status - Global. I set it to 0 and now the right box is gone and the left box is its previous width, so most of the page can go to product description (which is what I wanted).

Thanks for the Sort Order explanation. Some of the filenames I can guess at -- for instance, I'd guess sideboxes/categories.php relates to the "Categories" box on the store pages. But I don't see anything that might be sideboxes/document_categories.php, and I can't figure out what the left/right column status and single column status settings for a given file should be to (say) be included as one of the left-hand side boxes but not in the center section, or vice versa. Especially now that I turned the right boxes completely off elsewhere.

Again, I don't mind reading the FAQ to look for answers, but I have no idea what to search for.

Set your sideboxes to the LEFT vs the RIGHT and they will appear in the LEFT column now that the RIGHT column is turned off ...

The document_categories was designed for Categories that are setup as Document General ...

Most names are fairly obvious but some can be confusing at times ...

When unsure ... you can use the Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ... and in the bottom input box you can enter the title of a sidebox that you see on a page to discover its name ...

Or, you can enter the name of a sidebox from the display in the Layout Boxes Controller such as:
document_categories

and it will list the files that this is in ...

That can usually help in obtaining more information on a file or sidebox or centerbox etc.
