    Default Automatic Order Status Update?

Does anyone know if Website Payments Pro automatically updates a new order status from "Pending" to "Processing" upon completion of payment transaction?

I received an order tonight that is showing a status of "Processing", but I never updated it, nor did I ever see it in "Pending" status. I also didn't receive an order confirmation email to my administrator account, so I am fearing that he didn't either!

I ran a test order through the system when I set it up in December and everything went smoothly. I can send emails to my administrator account through the "Tools/Send Email" function, so I know that my mailserver is working fine.

    Any thoughts?

    Hey folks,

I found in another thread where I can set the default order status based on each payment module, and sure enough, my PayPal modules are set to "Processing". That answers one of my questions!

If anyone has any ideas about my email problem, I would greatly appreciate it!

Nevermind on the email problem also. When I originally ran my test product through, I was in SMTP mode and it seemed to work just fine. For some reason, it stopped working at the turn of the year. I just checked with my mail server, and they said that it is a Qmail setup.

I switched to Qmail, but alas, to no avail. I then decided to test it out using the PHP setting and (to my surprise) everything went through as smooth as silk. I don't know exactely what changed and if I were more diligent I would figure it out...but I'm not.

Thanks for reading...Thanks for thinking...Thanks for a great piece of software!

Choosing "PHP" is the best and recommended setting. The other options are generally only to be used if "PHP" doesn't work correctly for your needs.
Granted, "PHP" depends on the webserver being properly configured to send emails reliably from PHP ... thankfully most hosting companies are able to do that properly. Some do not ... which is largely why the other options are available.
