    YOU are a genius!!!

Thank you so much for your simple explanation. I don't necessarily understand it, but it worked.

The only reason I used the dvd folder was that it was suggested in the original instructions in the tutorial. I will not be having a huge number of products so this will work fine.

I've printed out your instructions so I won't forget how to do this once I start really stocking the store. I believe this was my last hurdle to having it set up pretty much like I want it.

Thank you again for your help.

can you do this like this:

    ---main/images
    lavender.jpg
    lavender_blue.jpg
    lavender_red.jpg

    ---main/images/medium
    lavender.jpg

    ---main/images/large
    lavender_LRG.jpg
    lavender_blue_LRG.jpg
    lavender_red_LRG.jpg

or do you have to use _01,_02_03?

You can use any additional image filename modifiers you want. (If you are using subfolders to organize your base images, then you must have an underscore _ between the base name and the modifier.)

Just be sure that no image base name is the same as another product's additional image name.

    So you can have

    ---main/images
    lavender.jpg
    lavender_blue.jpg
    lavender_red.jpg

    ---main/images/medium
lavender_MED.jpg <------------ you need the _MED here

    ---main/images/large
    lavender_LRG.jpg
    lavender_blue_LRG.jpg
    lavender_red_LRG.jpg

Ok I think I got it working. Now how to increase the size of the additional pictures in the product info? the actual image I added was 200x200px but its showing as 80x80px... I went to admin>config>images but couldn't figure out where the additional images size is controlled.

    Thanks

The base additional images are displayed at the "small image" size. There is no way to change this short of some recoding of PHP files. Someone did this several months ago, and you may be able to find information with the right search words.

The "larger" additional images will be displayed at (up to) the "large image" size, and this is where you can put your 200x200px images.

Alternately, you can remove the admin specification of small image size, and make sure on your own that images are loaded at the right size. That would (probably) allow you to display additional images at 200x200px.
