I've searched the forum for information about this, but I suspect I may be using the wrong words.
I want to set up an annual subscription for downloadable products that will be released in the future (a new one released each month).
I've considered a couple of solutions:
1. Set up the sub, then update the order each month with a new product with the correct attribute including the download link (email the customer that the new download is in their My Account under the subscripton order) -- I'm assuming this would require Edit Order or Super Orders to change the order. Will Edit Order allow me to edit the actual product included in the order, or would this require Super Orders?
2. Include 12 attributes (with download links) to the subscription product. Upload "dummy" zip files with the correct name for the future file (but empty zip), then replace the dummy zips with the actual file each month as it becomes available. I realize that this would require that the downloads have a long expiry date (like a year for the last one). Can a download link (as part of an attribute) be set to have a general expiration date?
Am I just thinking stupid here? Is there an easier way to do this? Any help appreciated.
