shipping estimator Background

I have a nice dark background on my site but when you do the shipping estimator the dark background makes it hard to read! I found a post explaining how to change it in the CSS style sheet my question is WHERE do I put this info I added it to the bottom of the CSS style sheet and did not see a diffrence

Sorruy of if you add a product to your cart then click on shipping estimate you cannot see any of the text due to the dark background
