    Default Transferring Hosting

    Hey all,

after much dissapointment from my current host im going to change to a recommended one from here as my timeout issue in previous posts is still very much persistant.

i was just wondering if i add all the modules iam presently running and install the same template plus transfer all images can i backup my existing mysql database and simply restore to the database at the new provider to get the shop populated without having to reload everything? Or is it recommended st populate from scratch?

    Thanks in advance

Last time I checked, a couple of the certified hosts offered to move your data & software for you - perhaps this is a service you should request as part of your vendor selection.

I might have to do this soon as well. GoDaddy is overpriced and very slow to display my sites.

So when you backup the database and move it to the new host, it will maintain all customer information and everything?

Yes, if you move the site right you will not lose anything,

and as Swguy said there are several of the certified hosts that will actually do the move for you,

    Hey all,

i have just started to move my database to my new host however i have noticed a strange issue.

Basically my existing install has a zen_ prefix on the database.

I have performed a sql backup and restored to the new installation that has no prefix.

I have changed the configure.php to tell it that there is now a prefix and it is looking at the correct tables, however even though when you browse the catalogue all the products and categories are there when you go to admin no products or categories exist.

I still have the original ez populate files and if i re run them the categories and products appear in the admin area and it seems to rectify the problem. Does anyone know the reason for this? Should oi just run all the EZP files again ?

    Thanks in advance

p.s Can i drop all the old tables without the zen_ prefix or are they referenced elsewhere?
