Drop down menu for Categories

I've been reading many of the posts in regard to drop menu to list all categories and I have not been able to see a step by step tutorial or a pratical explanation.
Can someone tell me which pages I need to change and what codes to change.
Please help this is very important to me.

You can install a ready-to-go mod from Downloads for this. There are several in different sections of Downloads, including CSS Horizontal Drop Down Menu.

There are also CSS flyout menu mods, if you want it for the sidebox.
