    Default Free product still expects a payment method

    I have one free product on my website. Everything works as far as downloading goes.

    On step 2 of 3, it's still expecting a payment method. And it gives the following message in the Payment Method box:

    Sorry, we are not accepting payments from your region at this time.
    Please contact us for alternate arrangements.

    Is there a way to eliminate this? You can click the Continue Checkout button and it will continue on and provide a download link for my product. But I'd like for this error to go away if possible.

    Seeing as how my product didn't really to go through the check out process (the product is meant to bring people in to the store, not to make money on it's own), I figured it was easier to make and EZ-Page with a link to download the product.

    Guess I should have thought about that before.

    I have the same problem......many free downloads and always this message....should we go and find the message and change it or is there another solution???

    I had that same payment error message and from reading some posts by Dr Byte here in the forum I discovered that when you are "selling" free downloads that you need to go into admin>modules>payment and install the "Zen Cart FREE CHARGE CARD" - this module isn't really a charge card, its just what ZenCart uses to process orders that have a total of $0.00.

    When you install it you'll want to be sure to set the zone to "none" and the order status to "processing [2]". This will allow anyone buying a free download to checkout through your store and get their downloads right away.

    So, with this installed, instead of the "Sorry, we are not accepting payments from your region at this time. Please contact us for alternate arrangements." message you will see "The Zen Cart FREE CHARGE CARD" in the Payment Method area.

    If you don't like the wording, you can change it by going into its language file located at /includes/languages/english/modules/payment/freecharger.php - I changed mine to read "All products in your cart are free. No payment is required." and then saved it to /includes/languages/english/modules/payment/custom/freecharger.php .

    The reason for the placement in a custom folder is because of the override system which is explained here https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=230

    Micbat -- Thanks for providing a complete solution by writing up all the details. I do that too. Too often scant details are provided and it still takes hours to work out a complete solution. It worked great. Thanks very much!

    Just wanted to Say THANKS to micbat and iamplatinum. I Googled the "Sorry, we are not accepting payments..." message and found the post. I followed the instructions and it worked perfectly.
