Mail send fail/yahoo small business

I've just last night set up Zen Cart and I'm very happy with it, but I have a problem which has just given me a headache over the last several hours (mainly from reading all the related posts on here!).

I'm currently running tests on a local setup, Appache 2.2, PHP5 and mySQL5, running Zen Cart 1.3.8a under XP SP2. My eventual host is yahoo small business since I already have hosting with them for other domains I run.

Configuring the emails in Zen Cart is what is killing me, setting them through a different account and server (isp.com) works, but my yahoo settings give errors like "Email Error: The following From address failed: [email protected]". I've tried PHP, smtp, smtpauth with various settings but no go. I'm guessing that it may have something to do with the server requiring SSL connections!?

Has anyone managed to get yahoo small business emails to work? pretty much all that I have read on here that was resolved were I believe for regular yahoo accounts, not the small businesss mail (smtp.yahoo.com, not smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com like my mail uses).

I've disabled emails right now so that I can continue testing other portions without bumping into mail failed errors.

Have you tried setting up SMTP on port 587.

I have not tried 587 (I will be in a second though), I have tried 465 which is the specified port for Outlook smtp, time to have another play with email, fingers crossed!

Steven, you are a god! although my curiosity has been awakened, where did that port # come from!?
