What's worst that can happen

If I remove the current "cart" folder, backup mySQL and replace the "cart" folder with a fresh copy from the 1.3.8a archive, what's the worse that will happen?

If I setup the override structure correctly, then nothing should happen correct? Otherwise I will loose the template changes?

Ultimately I'm trying to get the multi-columns to display on the products page.

Since I'm not 100% sure my override structure is as it should be and a few other changes I made, I was going to start from scratch yet again. At least my products are safe since I backed them up and so does my host on a daily basis.

By "cart" folder, do you mean the whole ZC installation folders/files?
If you replace that with a fresh copy of ZC, you will eliminate all template folders and files that you have customized. Database changes will be retained, but that is all.

There are only two files in the mod, /includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE/product_listing.php
and /includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_modules_product_listing.php,
so if you want to remove/replace the mod you can just work on those two files in whatever template folder you want.
