How to add image on main page?

This being my first post and new to zen cart, I have a question that may be simple for most of you. I attempted to add an image on my main page, .../define_main_page.php. I think I add the correct code

<IMG SRC="image.jpg" WIDTH="41" HEIGHT="41" BORDER="0">

But it doesn't display the image (just the no image icon). Which folder do I need to upload the image so it can find the source. Also, do I need to add anything to the code like typing where the source file is? Or is there a much easier way than all of this.
