Default One Time $0 Price - Help Please!

    Hi Everyone,

I've been struggling for DAYS trying to get my attributes to work right. I've tried everything possible and still can't get it to work.

    Please attribute masters, help me!

    Scenario:

    Product A = $10

I have an attribute called "Borrow" (a checkbox) that I want to set the price to $0 if selected.

I have tried everything. One time offsets, quantity discounts, etc. The only thing I could get to work is actually modifying the price by -$10 if someone selects "borrow". This is lame though because that means I would have to set each product's attribute price deduction separately. I have thousands of products so I would prefer a solution that uses either a 100% discount or a 1 one time negative offset. So far no luck.

It seems to me that by setting a negative 1 one time offset (or even regular price offset) that that should work? But it doesn't, the price always comes out $10 no matter what. And yes, I have product priced by attributes set to on.

It seems to me that there has to be a simple way to make the price $0 no matter what the quantity is. All this power in attributes and it can't do this simple thing? There has to be a way!

Any suggestions? I'm desperate... way over budget and deadlines on this project. I'll sell my soul to anyone that can get this working for me please... any advice?

    Thanks.

    Do you have other attributes?

Nope that's the only attribute. Also no sales/discount stuff. Pretty straight up arrangement.

If the Product is set with a Product Price of 10.00 and the Attribute for Borrow is set with a Price of - 10 then that would work ...

If the Product is set with a Product Price of 0.00 and Priced by Attribute YES ... then an Attribute for Buy Me is set to + 10.00 and an Attribute for Borrow Me is set to 0.00 then you now have a Borrow Me and a Buy Me ...

Yes, that's how I currently have it set (the first option you outlined). The second option you outlined is just plain Kludgey.

Both examples fail for us though because you would need to alter the attribute on every single individual product and every time you create a new product. This sucks when you're dealing with thousands of products. A better solution is to be able to set a 100% discount or a -1 offset or just set the price to $0 regardless of what the product price is. That way the attribute never has to be adjusted or looked at on a per product basis.

It seems like Attributes, in their current form, can handle this. However putting a -1 offset in or just setting the price to 0, etc. never seem to work. The added product to the cart still displays full price. Not sure if there are some bugs in there still with attributes or I just fully don't grasp how to use them, but I've done enough experimenting with them that they're just not going to work for what we need.

Seems a simple enough thing to want... set price to $0 whenever X attribute is selected. For some reason it can set the price to anything BUT $0.

Have you an URL to one of these Products that we could perhaps peek at?

Set it up with Product Price as: 10.00

    Set the Borrow Attribute as:
    Prefix -
    Price Factor: 1
    Price Factor Offset: 2

    Set the Buy Attribute as:
    Default charges

    Does this work for you?
