    help question Downloadable content question

    Hello all!

I love Zen Cart and have been using it for a while now!

I have now moved to the downloadable content arena and I need your wisdom!

I have a couple of questions and I hope that you can help me with them. Its music. MP3 files of local bands. I struck a deal with a local label and they want me to set up the site. Instead of spending an exorbitant amount of money on custom programming I have come here. :-D

    1. It looks to me (I am probably wrong) that all of the files that can be downloaded are all held in 1 single directory with no possible sub directories .. is this true? I was hoping to organize my files like this:

    downloads/artist/album/somesong.mp3
    downloads/artist1/album/somesong.mp3
    etc etc.

From what I can tell I can NOT do this ... is this correct?

    2. I also would like a small preview of the song. I know that Zen cart can do this though the media manager. What I am wondering is ... can this be automated or something so ... automatically when I create this downloadable file then a preview is created or something. I just don't want to have to upload my music twice which it seems as if I have to do ... that doesn't make logical sense ... this is why I come to you. I bet I am confused or missing something.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with me!

    Regards,
    Coolbeansdude51

    Default Re: Downloadable content question

    1. Correct. There is no subdirectory support in the current version.
This may change in the future.

    2. You will have to prepare your own samples and upload them via the media manager, where you can attach them to products so they can be previewed. FAQ: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=119
It's probably most cost-effective to prepare your own samples, rather than attempt to write code to do that on a webserver.
