using storing bar codes

Hello all

am looking to setup a zen cart for a friend and he will be purchasing a bar code scanner and bar code creation software.
What I am wondering is does Zen cart have the ability to store a barcard image and bar code serial number in the zencart database.

Actually I know the above answer is yes I would just setup the required tables but really what I need to know is would zen cart have any current ability or pre-built functions to enable someone to search for a product via a bar code? has anyone built a mod so that someone can scan a bar code on a product and have zen cart pull up the admin product info page. As this would be used on the admin side only to log products in and out of the store for inventory purposes.

Not for the admin that I am aware of as this is mostly older legacy code
