Default Main page content appearing on category pages

    Hi,
I've added some content to define_main_page.php in the admin system and it appears on the home page centre column as expected.
The trouble is, it also appears on pages that don't list any products too - i.e sub-category pages.
Click a category from the left menu - if it goes to a product listing, it works fine. if it goes to a sub category selection page (no products shown) then the home page content is shown again above the categories.

I've searched on here for a solution and a couple of threads turned up that appeared to have the same problem, but they were resolved by disabling an FAQs module?
There is an FAQs module under the Extras menu in this site, but the other threads talk about locating files that do not exist in this site?

I'm not sure how I can fix this?

I looked into perhaps using an EZ Page as the homepage, but I can't find enough info to help me do that either.

Either way works for me, but I need one of them!

    Any help or ideas please?
    Cheers,
    Rob

I know but this is because currently I cannot post a link to the site in question.
This is why I try to explain everything in as much detail as possible. This way, a link shouldn't be needed to understand the problem as visiting the site will not give you any more information than my description of the issue :)

    Theoretically. But maybe it would?
I'd like to know how, if so :)

I see this (please post a link) posted as a reply a lot on this forum, but reading the posts to which this was the reply makes me ask, why was a link needed when the issue being tackled seems quite logical (to me), and enough explanation was given to understand what's happening.

Maybe I'm missing the point LOL

No harm done or intended, just my view is all!!

    Anyway...
This site is being developed for a client, and he removed the FAQs module which has fixed this issue - there is obviously something very wierd (conflict) going on there.

For other people experiencing the same issue and stumbling across this thread in their search for answers on this forum, removing the FAQs module from Zen Cart fixed the issue.

    Cheers,
    Rob

Yes you are but it is probably not that evident...

Most of us are volunteers that answer/help on this forum.

What you are not seeing is that many do not post to a thread that does not have a link....check some with no response and look at the # of views...normally many with no one replying.

What you are really asking is "I have a problem that I will do my best to explain and see if you can guess what to provide me as a solution"

Many do not want to take the time to play guessing games and a link can provide much depending on what the issue is.

For starters, one can view the page source and see much of how the page is being constructed serverside and many times there will be a glaring issue there.

CSS issues can be fixed online interactively using Firefox and the web developers tools extension - so actual css code can be viewed and changed and provided to the poster in a single post with no additional questions.

There are more but this should be enough and if you are a developer you should already know this
why was a link needed when the issue being tackled seems quite logical
If this is the case and it is so logical, then why are you even here asking?

You posted and asked and I replied with only my opinion

I don't wish to fight - I'm only pointing out what I think is a bit of an oddity on this particular forum :)

I've been developing (ASP...) for many years (written books on it, for my sins) and have helped other people debug their issues on other forums without seeing code to do so. If someone's explanation isn't good enough to give me an idea of what could be wrong (through my experience) then further explanation from them can help - or even a link if the person doing the explaining doesn't explain things well.
But a link isn't always possible (for many reasons - in my particular case on this site, it's a confidentiality issue until the site is launched).

The problem can be logical (and well explained) but the solution to it may not be... I don't post a thread on a forum if I can resolve my issue myself as thats a waste of everyones time

I understood what was going on, but not how to prevent it from happening.
In this case, there wasn't anything wrong with code, or CSS - which I think my description showed, so my web developer toolbar wasn't any use to me in finding a solution, nor was looking at the source code.

I know your intentions are good, and I appreciate the efforts - I do exactly what you do here but in a different field (volunteer my own time to help others on a couple of other forums), I can usually take a good guess at a solution to someones problem to try and help them. So I know where you're coming from - please don't take offence.

Written word has no intonation so while all of my comments in this thread are intended in a very light hearted way, it's easy to take them as harsh criticism - but they are not! I try to use a smiley here and there to show this too...

    All the best.
    Cheers,
    Rob
