attribute scrollpane or better option?

I'm looking for a "scroll pane" option for the attributes. Is it built in and I'm just missing it? Basically I would like to display various fabrics (aproximately 50) but don't want to take up the whole screen doing it. The customer would scroll through the thumbnails and click on the choice fabric as their selection and the name of that fabric would show up in my order form.

-Adding thumbnails to the "pulldown" or "radio button" attribute picker takes up far too much room for this purpose.

-The option I'm currently thinking about is to have all the fabrics in a pop up window that they would have to type into a text box - but many of the fabrics have similar names and I don't want any confusion.

-The only other idea I have - but have no expertise in this matter and could use some advice - is to have code that somehow allows the person to click on an option in the pop up window and have that populate the text box for the product. I don't even know if that's possible.

This same fabric picker pop-up would also be used for all the other products (currently 4, maybe more in future) so one option that can be easily replicated/shared across products would be best.
