    Default Hosting

I purchased my Zen Cart from a character that gave me FREE hosting.

It may as well have given me a chocolate teapot!

If I got the right hosting from a sensible company, what spec do I need to look for and do I simply need to FTP all the files and it will work?

It might sound like a silly question but to a newbie like me, it sounds quite sensible so stop laughing!

Look at the certified hosting page at the top of this page. I believe that some of these nice folks will even transfer your cart for you. Good luck!

Not to say that you've made a wrong decision, but if you are that new, it might be a perfectly fine host but you don't know how to use it. (I was that new in February of this year ...) Anyway, if you felt like sharing the problems, maybe someone can help and you wouldn't have to give up the free hosting. (That said, I switched this year to one of the recommended hosts and LOVE them, but the issues I had with the previous provider were that they were based in Singapore and using our domain to spam from, so we're on every blacklist in the U.S.)

Well, I just checked out one of the recommended hosting companies just to get Mickey Mouse answers.

The developers stated that it is a good idea to have the MySql database on the same server as Zencart in order for the Backup Module to work correctly.

That hosting company ran circles around the answer leaving me to go elsewhere.
