How to make our zencart run faster ?

Our site is rather slow . Are there ways to make zen-cart run faster , we don't want to change web hosting. To smooth the visit , I download all of the site into HTMLs , to make a static version of the site . Any suggestion is appreciated .

Images, Images, Images & Images
The load sizes of some of your images are ridiculous
Some are > 150k
Optimize your images and see how it is then
Good Luck

PS: You would get a lot more sales having "laser pointer" as part of your website name

1. Disable category counts.
2. Disable category admin counts.
3. Install Image Handler so all images are decent size.

And check if your host allows Xcache!

Thanks too. My enlarged images are now loading faster due to this change.
