Billing address error when processing credit card

Hi,

For some reason my current client's transactions aren't going through because it's saying his CC billing address doesn't match the address for his zen account.

I've made purchases with my Discover card w/o any problem so the only thing I can think that it might be is that his billing address is a P.O. Box. He assures me the address on his statement is identical to what's in his zencart account.

I deleted his account and registered for him again with the address he provided me and it still does the same. He said he would have a relative sign up and try with their own CC billed to their residence tomorrow.

I did a search on P.O. Boxes and didn't come across this one. Could this be the problem?

I dont think having a PO box would be the problem, check to make sure your payment module is set up correctly. What service are you using?

The payment module is now setup correctly. I'm using eProcessingnetwork using Authorize.net Emulation.

Like I said before, my transactions go through fine. He assured me that he's looking at his CC statement and his address jives with his zen account address.

When you look at the transaction in your processor's control panel, does it show the address as the problem?

I've had customers swear for days that the addresses were the same, and eventually admit they 'might have made a mistake'.

Could also be the difference between PO Box and P.O. Box.

This has nothing to do with Zen-Cart.
Look at eProcessingnetwork/Authorize.net and your setting for AVS.
With strict AVS all PO Box addresses will fail.
AVS is looking for address (house) numbers and when if finds letters it will fail.
98 Hunter St - Pass
9918 JoeBob Ct. - Pass
2 West Ct. - Pass
POB 1001 - Fail
P.O. B 89 - Fail
P.O. Box 23456 - Fail

Both the log file AND eProcessing was showing the address match problem. The only thing that matched was the zip code.

I knew the P.O. Box was the problem but like Stevesh said, this guy is so insistent on the fact that the address on his statement is a P.O. Box that he's not even checking it. I've asked him numerous times to do so.

So I emailed eProcessing's support staff and they responded with the following..

Rob,
Credit card companies will not use a PO Box as a billing address. They may use as a delievery address but not billing.
The card issuing bank is the sending the response.

I could hardly believe that a PO Box could be used to open a CC account in the first place but he kept saying it was. I forwarded him their response so we'll see?

All my credit cards are to a PO Box. In fact all my mail goes to a PO Box.

The AVS datebase is so outdated that it will fail valid PO Box addresses.
This is an on going problem with the credit card companies.

All that needs to be done is change AVS setting not to fail non-matching addresses if you want to do business with customers that have only P.O. Boxes.
