Customers - Orders not showing after restore

I had my hosting company restore my db from a data center backup. Now I logged into admin and had problems resetting my template. I had to first select a language and then it let me select my template. OK, I thought this is it now. Just had to reset the layout boxes. Did that too.

Store looks good as it should. Admin side is my problem.

Customers - Orders not showing after restore

New Orders are showing in Admin Home but if I go to Customers - Orders it is empty. Not even old orders are showing. What happened? Do I still need to reset something?

Strangely Localizations - Order Status is empty too. And Localizations - Languages empty as well. Are some tables not restored?

Any pointers where to look would be appreciated.

Update: Strangely it resolved itself. I reset the template, side boxes and run fix_cache...php and after it still did not work. I had no choice but post in the forum and emailed, called my hosting support. By the time they got back to me, 2h, I checked again and it suddenly showed me my orders and all other missing stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I am very happy that all seems fine, but! But how is this possible? Is there some cache that refreshes itself? I cleared my browsers cache as well and it did not make any difference.

My lesson is the following: Don't count on your hosts backup. Or call it the data centers back up. If they need to extract single db's or files, it is going to cost. Install the backup plug in and ftp your files to your pc after you make changes. I will run my db backup more frequently after this experience. Any backup I have in hand I can do as fast as I can work and I do not depend on my host, data center support speed. :)

In short....do frequent backups and then do more backup, backup, backup!

Ok..I'm having the same issue...except, I installed a new store, and had to install the database in pieces. (it was too large to do all at once)

I can see every order in the new database, I can see the exact count on the left side of the admin home page, showin xxx orders pending, xxxx orders processing, etc etc, but there is nothing in the new orders column, and if I go to the CUSTOMERS>ORDERS, it's empty.

How do I get them to show up? (In the database, I show the following number of records:

orders -- 8,166
orders_products --30,247
orders_products_attributes -- 35,542
etc etc etc

all of those numbers are right...as we are up to our order number #8166...so i can definitely see them on the database.

Hi paperthreads,

How did you do the restore? I have now upgraded and installed many stores. If I have to transfer a db, I usually install the backup tool mod and save, install through the admin. This has always worked very well. No problem with size as you can ftp the db to the admin/backup directory ahead of time.

To your and mine issue I still have no clue why this happened. Maybe you have a choice and restore the way I suggested and see if works?

I can't do it that way, because when I try, the dump file i get is 0KB...

So I had to go in and manually upload the database, in parts, until I got it all in...to orders all show in the database, they just don't show in the admin at all

I noticed the same problem again with a new store.

Used a db from another store, emptied all address, customer and order tables.

Now everything is set for the new store- tested a order and it did not show up. It turns out that I deleted the order status table as well.

I had to insert order status values under Localisation - Order Status. Used Pending, Processing and Shipped.

Now everything works as expected.

Hope this will help someone down the road...
