    Default Zen Cart XML Export

    Hello Zenners,

    Good Morning!

Does anyone have any reference links that will help me understand the concept of exporting xml from sql tables (myphpadmin)? I am a bit new to both languages. I am just looking for the basic concept of how it works. I will try to figure it out from there.

    I found this software magneticone.com/store/Zen.Cart.Modules/Zen.Cart.Data.Feeds/Zen.Cart.Advanced.XML.Export

But, if I can learn how to do it myself, I would rather do it that way.

Thanks, and have a great week,

    -Esoin

Exporting XML from phpMyAdmin isn't going to help you very much.

AML is a format for marking up data so that it can be transferred from otherwise incompatible systems. This means that data is taken from a source system and typically marked up (named) ready for import into a target system.

It can be done the other way around, i.e. dumped into XML and then parsed for import into the target system. But this is less common as it would generally result in having to process redundant data.

There is a Wikipedia entry for xml and a w3schools tutorial, but be ready to do some programming in order to process the data that you will be generating, ideally programming to produce an XML file ready import directly to your target system.

    Kuroi,

Thanks so much for the explaination. I am going to further research AML, and the links you have provided.

Thanks again. This was the sort of direction I was looking for.

That "AML" reference in my post should have read "XML". My main point (not clearly expressed) was that XML exported from phpMyAdmin would only know about the source data's structure and would therefore be marked up for re-import into the source, or a very similar database, rather than to your target system.

Default Zen Cart XML Export - Cost per click strategy

I spend $000s with google and the prices are going up so am working my wat thru the shoping search engines.

It seems a flexible XML writer is needed. XML is pretty simple so really not a difficult thing to do. Indeed even a basic XML like Google Feed can be post processed to add in the specific attributes for a new feed - simple search and replace even.

HAS ANYONE GOT A GOOD WAY OF GETTING XML OUT

I use the google feed and post process - anyone got any ideas on what tool is best for this awy, sed, editor macros ???

    Thx

    Gary
