"old" newsletter subscribers in the new Zen cart

Hallo everybody,
I might be asking a very stupid question, but will be very grateful for any advice!
I just installed zencart, and now I need to get my newsletter subscribers from my other site to be filled in the zencart. That is no problem on itself, but I do not want them to get a mail which asks them to confirm their subscription, when they have been subscribed to my newsletter for years already....

The same goes for the old customers of mine. If I create an accoutn for all of them, then they all will get a welcome message, but I do not want this to happen, as they were customers since years....

Is there a way to switch this notifications and conformations off?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Admin - Configuration - E-mail Options - Send E-mails - change to false while you're entering the subscribers and customers.
