Showing Category Images on Main Page

Hello,

On my main page I want to show a listing of all the shopping categories available with category images. I'm sure there must be an easy way to do this but I just can't find it.

I would also like to show subcategory images when someone clicks on a main category that has multiple subcategories...

I have this set to 10 but still nothing shows up on my home page. Maybe I'm posting on the wrong thread? I want to have my category images show up in the center column of my home page.

Is there something else I should do?

Okay Haredo, let's go for a double hand clap! Do you know what I can do so that the name of the category doesn't show under the images? I basically want to end up with images for my categories on the home page. I am going to include the name of each category in the image itself.
