SSL questions ???

I wasn't sure were to post this and I tried a search but it came back with 0 results under ssl (weird).

I have a domain and ssl from godaddy and have the site hosted at totalchoice hosting. I contacted tch about getting a ssl cert and they emailed me back some info asking me to choice between https://www.yourdomain.com/ or https://yourdomain.com/. I am not sure what exactly this means or how it will effect people getting to my site??? I would think you would want the www right? Also, I noticed it added a "s" to the http, why? Will people still be able to get to my site if they just type the normal http://www.mydomain.com?

Sorry this is the first ssl ive ever done and want to make sure I understand it.

The s just tells you it's secure and yes they would still get to your site as the main page won't have that s in it as only the login, myaccount and checkout pages are sll secured.

Some ssl certificates such as Digicert allow you to secure both http://yourdomain.com and http://www.yourdomain.com

Personally if i was you i would choose the www version and rewrite your hta access file so that all http://yourdomain.com requests automatically bring up the www part of your site.

You will need to edit a few files in your zen cart to get the SSL certificate working with your cart and unless GoDaddy have access to your cart and do it for you then you would need to edit those files...Once again this site has that information and it's pretty straightforward to do.

GoDaddy enable the SSL certificate on their server ( ask them if its shared or not as shared isn't as good but all depends on what you are selling as to what one you get )
