red flag Appears that there's only 1 guest cart

I am finishing up customization on my first Zen-Cart and while I was testing it asked my brother to try it as well.

He said "That's funny, I have 3 <misc> in my cart". (Which is what I had in my guest cart.) He then said, "Oh, now it's fixed" and when I refreshed I now had what he'd put in his cart.

So it looks to me as if I have ONLY one guest cart. hmmm, that doesn't seem right...so any ideas on what's been screwed up?

    Thank you!

cart error Re: Appears that there's only 1 guest cart

so I've come to the conclusion that I've managed to delete the cart session id (even a cart saved with a user id is affected by changes to a guest cart).

I'd be grateful to anyone who can share tips on re-establishing it.

You would have to be getting pretty deep into the inner workings of ZC to have affected cart sessions... unless perhaps you have changed something in admin > Configuration > Sessions.

I don't think so...I think I just deleted it from the top of the shopping cart page so that it's not being generated any longer. Almost all of the changes have been purely aesthetic (except for breaking the cart) - I think).

I think I just need to comb through the original files to see where I went wrong...

Any files you would be touching for template development would not affect the session management. You can't just "delete it from the top of the shopping cart page".

Just to give some context: The purpose of the site is to sell 8 items (tickets, etc) for a benefit and this isnt' really what Zen Cart (as far as I can tell, anyway) is designed to do.

To that end I've stripped most of the navigation because I really only want to display one page - the category page that includes the 8 items. I think while doing that I inadvertently deleted the include that creates the session id (perhaps init_sessions.php) and that's the boat in which I sit.

So I'm debating whether it would be faster to replace all the files and reconfigure or if it could possibly be more efficient to wade through the changes I've made and hopefully discover the flaw.

Or...someone will know EXACTLY which line of code I need to RE-include and that'll be that.

    if only...

duh! I was arriving at the cart via a link that included the session id number.

    That WAS easy.

    Thanks for your input gjh42!
