User Load Average - What does it mean ?

I was looking in my server/version info page and came across this.

Server Up Time: 06:51:15 up 133 days, 18:14, 1 user, load average: 3.22, 3.25, 3.08

I would imagine it has something to do with my server and could be useful information.

Anyone technical here know what it means exactly and is it good or bad ?

I forgot to add my server is linux based - Server OS: Linux 2.6.9-55.0.6.ELsmp

PHP Version: 5.2.4 (Zend: 2.2.0) PHP Memory Limit: 128M

Load average has dropped slightly - Server Up Time: 07:06:31 up 133 days, 18:29, 1 user, load average: 2.83, 2.82, 2.97


So is this good or bad is my hosting company Inmotion Hosting doing a good or bad job with all this ?

I sure would like to know.

I only have been with them since Late November - In a 12 month contract now or at least i have paid upfront for 12 months.

So what do those figures mean and what are your average figures and how will this affect my website performance ?

I'll contact my web host provider once i know what the figures mean if they are too high. Is it something which perhaps i haven't configured right on my account causing such high figures ?

Ok seems low but once again its all dutch to me...What does it mean...How does it affect website performance....What can i do other than getting a new host that will fix this ?

Higher the figures, slower the server..
to run zencart successfully, servers must
be configurated correctly.
Suggest you talk to your webhost and/or
check

I contacted their live help who instantly went offline meaning they don't know what it all means either so an email was sent instead...They usually reply very quickly so i expect to hear back from them within the next hour.

No, not just advertising... those are recommended
zencart webhosts.. i.e their servers are high quality
and configured correctly for zencart.

My hosting company tells me this.

Are you referring to the server housing darkrealmfox? If so, this server is
effectively an 8 processor box, so the load you are showing approximates at load of
0.75 on a single processor server (where 1 is considered full utilization).

Perhaps not so bad after all ?


Anyone know because i really know nothing about servers.
