Regarding .htaccess Files.

Hi.

I have just been implementing the security suggestions in The FAQ "How can I protect my site from malicious attack?"

Option 7 suggests that you install a .htaccess file in those folders that have a empty index.html file. I've done that useing the suggested content, but if I install one in my images folder, the website will not show the product images!!. Why is that?

It sounds as though that advice might be too sweeping. The .htaccess file is intended to prevent any access from outside your server to the files in a folder. Since your visitors' browsers are outside your server, adding a .htaccess file to your images folder prevents the image files form being accessed.
