Default Need to export product catalogue to CSV

    Hi all,

I'm happily running Zen cart 1.37 for quite a while and now I want to put my products on a local site that is a bit Like Froogle.. they need a CSV or XML with all the product data inside, organized in the correct columns. They've provided me with a sample file that has all sorts of specifics in it.

I've spent sometime sifting through contributions and forum posts to try and figure out how to export data like this, but I haven't been successful.

I've examined the easy Populate product and looked at the demo but I don't think it does the right sort of thing.

I'm no developer so I'm not able to simply whip up a script and let it fly.

I appreciate any pointers on how to go about this sort of thing.

    Hi,
It will be best to use Easy Populate (A module for Zen Cart). It allows you to add products, update products and prices. And also download a file for Froogle, etc.

Easy Populate can be downloaded from here:

    Hi Jaskarn,

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Being in NZ you'll know about Ferrit.co.nz. That's the place where my products are going to be exported to.

I've had a good look at the commercial version of Easy Populate, including the demo site at http://demo1.zencartbuilder.com/admin/, and I can't see how it would be able to export a suitable file.

Ferrit is of course unlikely to work with a Froogle file. I imagine that there would need to be a tool that would let me map all the Zen Cart fields to the required ones. Do you know if Easy Populate provides tools for that sort of thing? I certainly don't need to import anything into ZenCart - only export.

Thanks heaps for any further advice on this,
    rob

If this is for google XML, then there are specific google mods in the download section.

... it's likely that ferrit will use similar XML parameters to google.

There are also some good online XML generators. EG:-

Thanks for the replies, it's much appreciated!

I've had an email back from Ferrit suggesting that CSV is probably not an option but that XML might work.

I'm a little ignorant here, but I don't quite understand how an XML sitemap generator is the same thing? Do you mean that one can use a sitemap generator to export the product catalogue somehow?

I'm going to try and find the person who handles easypopulate and see if they can look at the files I've been sent.
