My company is looking for a way to sell our software as downloadable files perhaps with Zen Cart. What we need to do is email a unique serial number along with the the download link. We have already generated the serial number list which will be used with our online registration system.

Is it possible to do this with some PHP knowledge or would this be a difficult task?

Yes you can, it's not hard, but it doesnt require only "some" php knowledge, it will need 1 person who is good at PHP, database, and know his way around ZC.
