New installation white screen issue

OK, for anyone interested. DrByte found an error in my config file, left the s off vhost!! Pretty silly.

However DrByte also mentioned permissions like php file ownership taken over by apache. This is probably the reason for the white screen during installation.

I'll try doing the install with root access or users part of www group or something.. can wait until the morning.

Well I couldn't go to sleep without this working, even though it's only in test mode.

In case this helps anyone else here I finally figured out the ownership issue DrByte referred to.

This being the reason for the white screen during install.

Just don't upload any of your zencart (or other apps) files to a VPS using root access unless you're first going to change ownership from root to the domain. Better off not using root access in the first place for uploads of this sort.

It's all so obvious now... yay!!

Root access should be for admin operations only. Never for day-to-day activities.
