    Default Removing zero stock items

    Hi there,

I'm new to this cart so this may be an oblivious question.

Can I set up so that any zero stock items are removed from the store? See I sell unique one off items so once an item has sold I need it off the site.

    cheers for your tiem

This will remove from being displayed but not from the Database as this must be done manually or scripted outside of Zen Cart to be automatic

admin > config > stock > Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to > set to "0"

You might leave those on the site in Sold Out form so people see they gotta buy fast to get them ...

I have been leaving my sold out items showing so as visitors see that activity.

Now I have quite a few and would like to know how to delete many of these the proper way.

Not sure if just deleting the item from within my admin, and also deleting the image in my database associated with it will cover everything?

If so, where is the correct image folder for deleting those images?

If more needs to be done at the database, could someone please elaborate?

    Thank you

You can definitely delete the item from Admin -- when you click on a category and see the list of products, the red X on the right side is to delete. You don't have to delete the image in order to delete the product.

I don't know of a faster way to do it than one-at-a-time, but maybe Linda will jump in and enlighten us. ;)

    Rob,

most likely your images are stored in the

    yoursite.com/your_cart_installation/images/products/

    folder.

As far as I know there is no easier way in deleting individual products than the method explained by Sylvia.

When you delete an image via the admin, ie: clicking on the red X and confirming your intent, the corresponding image file is also deleted, as long as the folder in which the images are stored is writable by the webserver.

And the default location for product images is the /images/ folder.

That was what I was curious about. Seemed like I had heard that there was an extra step within the database regarding images, and that letting them build up and not deleting them would cause the cart to load slower over time.

Any way....... Thank you for clearing that up

It wouldn't create a database issue per se, but could cause a filesystem issue:
Having images "left behind" is not going to directly slow the server down just because they exist; however, if you have a huge amount of files in any single folder, you may have difficulty seeing that folder's contents via your FTP program. And of course use up disk space in your hosting account.
