Search multiple shops on one domain

Hi,

I'm setting up a domain that will basically be a mall of different shops and shop owners. Is there a way to offer customers a search function that will search all the shops that are installed on the domain? Each shop is owned by a different person and all transactions will be individual by shop.

Zen Cart does not provide a method for this but you would need to write your own search function for this

I was pretty sure that Zencart didn't have an option for it. I was hoping that something like Google might have it or there might be another canned product and someone here might know of a solution off the top of their head instead of me floundering around searching for it.

As this will be specific to your installs and to the Zen Cart DB table for products - I would think that you will find a canned solution.

Might find a generic access mysql DB's script but then will have to custom code for your situation/needs

Is this possible if we have a db for each user instead of all the user's using the same db?

I haven't set this up yet so I can do it however makes the most sense. What I'd really like is to have each user setup with their own database and have the capability of searching by shop or by the whole site. If it was setup that way then I can give the shop owners the flexibility of moving their shop off of our domain if they want to some time in the future.

I missed what I posted and it is corrected below:

As this will be specific to your installs and to the Zen Cart DB table for products - I would NOT think that you will find a canned solution.

Having individual Zen Cart installs for each user is viable.

Searching the whole site - all carts that exist there - is the issue
