How to center my website

My whole website is moved to the right of the screen with a wide empty space on the left. So when people with normal comp screen (not wide one, I guess) look at it they have to scroll to the right, which is not very friendly and some find it quite annoying too. Can someone please point me in the right direction at where to start looking to fix it? It is the margins, the width or something else and how to set it right?? Is it something I need to look in CSS file? I am just a beginner and do not know a lot about this. I purchased a template and just modified it a little but messed up the layout, I think.
