Default Problem adding <textarea> to ezpages

I am trying to add a textarea inside a page that I created using ez-pages. Because the contents of the page are entered within a text box, the closing <textarea> tag is causing major problems for the zen cart admin.

After the first save, I can no longer update the page and anything that comes after the end of the text box shows up on the admin page.

Is there an easy way to embed a text box inside a page without interfering with the admin interface?

Have you tried working ONLY in HTML mode? (In other words, toggle to HTML mode (the <> symbol) and work with raw code. DON'T toggle back to wysiwyg before you save. Just save the page while still in HTML mode.

When you come to re-edit the page, make sure you deactivate HTMLArea first, so you are working only in raw html.

I always work in HTML mode, it makes no difference.
