    Default Round off problem

I've asked this also in our Dutch forum, but so far no result. So lets try here.
I have a problem with the round off in the tax.
It rounds off by 2 numbers after de decimal, like €2,27
If I choose to round off at 3 numbers after the decimal i'll get €2,261.
    The right amount is €2,26.
The strange thing is that ,261 is rounded off to ,27.

Where can i fix this problem?
    I'm using V1.3.7.

Your currency settings inputs may be the problem. From your post, I see that you are transposing COMMAS (,) and PERIODS (.)

    Go to ADMIN...LOCALISATION...CURRENCIES (Select Euro)

Make sure your currency settings reflect your desired delimiters:-

    Title: Euro
    Code: EUR

    Symbol Left: €
    Symbol Right:

    Decimal Point: .
    Thousands Point: ,
    Decimal Places: 2

    Last Updated: 03/18/2008
    Value: 1.33927500

    Example Output:
    £30.00 = €40.18

Now, when you ADD or EDIT a product's PRICE, you should use the following system (if your settings are as above, where I use a PERIOD for my decimal place delimiter).

Examples: A product with a price of TEN Euros should be entered:-

    10.0000

A product with a price of ONE THOUSAND Euros should be entered:-

    1000.0000 (NOT 1,000.0000)

    Is this correct?

    Naam: Euro
    Code: EUR

    Valutasymbool links: €
    Valutasymbool rechts:

    Notatie decimaal (. of ,): ,
    Notatie duizendtal (. of ,): .
Aantal plaatsen achter de komma: 2

    Datum laatste wijziging: 09/04/2008
    Waarde: 1.00000000

    Voorbeeld:
    €30,00 = €30,00

@fairestcape: the separator settings differ per country

@Marco_K: your valuta settings are correct now (for The Netherlands)

Can you post the invoice details here? So that we can see all the amounts and taxes per product etc..

Yes, you can choose whether to use " . " , or " , " as your decimal symbol - I know that European users tend to choose " , " as the decimal separator (this is consistent with European metric notation).

But the problem may lie in how you apply the price value when you add or edit products.

When you input a price value, say EURO 1000, you must not put any commas or letter spaces in to the input field.

So, if you have chosen " . " as your thousands separator and " , " as your decimal symbol:-

1.000,00 (being one thousand euro and no cents) is incorrect.

It should be - : 1000,0000 (comma stays, but period must not be present).

The pricing of the articles is not the problem. The tax rounding is the problem.

In Currency, I set decimal places on 2, my checkout_confirmation page looks like this:
    Tax 19%: €11,21
    Total: €70,11

Now i set the decimal places on 3 and my checkout_confirmation page looks like:
    Tax 19%: €11,191
    Total: €70,091

Why does it round off like this??? (more important, how do I fix this?)
Tax 19% €11,21 is a big of difference with €11,191.

I seem to remember reading other posts about tax rounding, and that it may relate to a bug in the Order Total modules and how tax is added up.

It appears that ZC calculates tax on individual products first, rounds off the tax(up or down) on each product, then ADDS these tax amounts together.

So, by rounding off the tax on EACH PRODUCT FIRST, then adding these amounts, it is possible to get a different value from the one you get if you calculate tax on the SHOPPING CART sub total.

The MORE items in the shopping cart, the larger the potential variance between the proper tax amount and the ZC amount...

    Consider...

    Tax at 19%

    Net Price . . . . . . . . Tax @ 19% . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Tax Rounded Off

    21.99 . . . . . . . . . . . 4.1781 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4.18

    35.45 . . . . . . . . . . . 6.7355 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 6.74

    99.59 . . . . . . . . . . . 18.9221. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .18.92

    48.29 . . . . . . . . . . . 9.1751 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 9.18

(ZC calculates tax on the sum of the final column: . .39.02 )

But tax calculated on the Shopping Cart sub total is:-

    205.32 . . . . . . . . . . 39.0108 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 39.01

... a difference of 1 cent, but still a difference!

What ZC should perhaps do to resolve this, is take tax values at 4 decimal places and add these amounts up - and only THEN round off to 2 places... ??
